    Our 2012 winner

DENTSPLY is delighted to announce the UK winner of the Ceram∙X Case Contest in Dental Schools 2011/12 as Daniel van Gijn from Kings College London.

    Daniel van Gijn

The judges felt that Daniel tackled a very challenging case with advanced carious lesions requiring restorations exceptionally well.

The lesions were extensive in terms of size and number. The aesthetic outcome was excellent and the patient clearly benefitted from the experience. The case was well managed with good attention to detail. The use of rubber dam and stabilization phase with glass ionomer cement was also commended.

In second place was David Hotchen from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) who was praised for dealing well with the challenge of increasing the Occlusal Vertical Dimension by several millimetres in his case.  In third place was Gurneelam Randhawa from Dundee Dental School.  The judges were impressed with the overall aesthetics in this case.

Daniel’s case will be presented at the World Final of the Ceram∙X Case Contest in Finland in September 2012 for a chance to win up to €3,000.
